NSPCC
The children completed their pupil questionnaires last Friday in school and should have brought home a booklet, ‘Simple Conversations to Keep Your Child Safe From Abuse’.  I appreciate abuse can be a difficult topic to discuss with a child but hopefully this guidance from the NSPCC will enable you to do it in an understandable and reassuring way.

Remember the NSPCC’s underwear rule:
P – privates are private
A – always remember your body belongs to you
N – no means no
T – talk about secrets that upset you
S – speak up someone can help

Road Safety
Last week I reminded parents that it falls to each one of us to act in a manner that keeps all our children safe when dropping off and picking up children.  I am disappointed to note a number of people continue to park in the bus stop or double park on the road putting our pupils in danger.  I ask all parents remember to park politely and urge you to pass this message on to grandparents, child-minders etc. who may also help out with the school run.

Grandparents’ Dinner

Our Grandparents’ Dinner last Thursday was a huge success! It was great to see so many supporting the event. A big thank you to the staff in the kitchen: Judith, Rosemary and Mana, who work tirelessly behind the scenes before, during and after to ensure everyone is well fed. Thanks also to Lila for the beautiful flowers she provided to decorate the tables and to Mr Bustard who kindly donated the disposable cartons for the children’s takeaway lunch. Last but by no means least I want to thank the pupils of Dunseverick all of whom were involved in performing or helping on the day – I know the grandparents and staff were very proud of each and every one of them!

NSPCC

The children will complete their pupil questionnaires this Friday in school.  The survey is split into 3 sections and will be completed throughout the day. Please be aware if you have not given permission for your child to participate they will remain in the classroom while this is completed with the other children.

 Road Safety

Constable Sydney Henry visited school last Wednesday to speak to the children about road safety. I asked you to talk about the messages he shared with your child and now encourage you to remember these when dropping off and picking up. Unfortunately we cannot at this time have the speed limit reduced and therefore it falls to each one of us to act in a manner that keeps all our children safe.

Sandpit

Thank you! We have received a beautiful new sandpit kindly donated by Lucy (P1) and Matthew (P6) and have also been offered a second hand sand and water tray from Daisy (P5) and Jessica (P7). We really appreciate your support and generosity and can’t wait for playtime!

School Nurse

The school nurse asked us to send home forms for completion by parents in advance of her visit on Thursday 12th May. If you have not already done so please remember to return this form to school a.s.a.p. for collection by the nurse.
