Dates for the Diary

Wednesday 17th January Friends of Dunseverick Meeting @ School – 7pm
Thursday 18th January Good News Club – P4 – P7 (3pm – 4pm)
Friday 19th January P7 Taster day at Dunluce

Friends of Dunseverick
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 17th January at 7pm. Anyone wishing to attend will be very welcome. Smartie Tubes – If possible we would like any remaining smartie tubes to be returned to school on or before Wednesday 14th February.

Parent Consultations
Parent Consultations for pupils in Reception – Primary 6 will take place between Monday 12th February and Wednesday 14th February. Transfer Consultations for Primary 7 pupils will take place on Wednesday 31st January. More details will follow

Library Van
Wednesday 17th January will see the return of the mobile library service to school. Please return any outstanding books on this date. The library van will continue to visit school Wednesday fortnightly from this date.

Half Term
School will be closed for pupils from Thursday 15th February to Tuesday 20th February (inclusive) for half term holidays.

Good News Club
Good News Club will resume on Thursday 18th January.

Edinburgh Trip
The full amount for the P6/7 Edinburgh trip needs to be paid on or before Friday 9 th February.

Class Assembly Mrs Bell’s P4/5 class will be taking assembly on Thursday 25 th January at 9.30am.
Parents and friends of children in P4/5 will be invited to come along and enjoy the assembly and enjoy some tea/coffee and scones after.

Portstewart Speech & Drama Festival
Permission slips have been sent home today for the Portstewart Speech & Drama Festival. Please complete and return to school on or before Wednesday 17th January.

Dates for the Diary
A list of dates has also been sent home today for this term. We will keep parents informed if any of these dates change.

Milk
Could anyone still needing to pay for milk please make payment before Wednesday 17th January? The cost for the term is £11.13.

Children’s meetings are being held in Ballintoy Gospel Hall next week (Monday 15th – Friday 19th January). Flyers are being sent home with all children today.

WOW!
What a day! I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of each and every one of our pupils. Their performances on Tuesday were outstanding. From shepherds and wise men, Mary and Joseph, Bible Readings, choral speaking to singing Silent Night in German, it really was amazing. A massive well done to all involved!

Christmas Gift Boxes
We hope the children are enjoying decorating the Christmas gift boxes and parents making them. All gift boxes are to be returned to school no later than Tuesday 19th December.

Theatre Trip

We are looking forward to our trip to the Theatre on Wednesday 20th . A few reminders:

  • Breakfast and break
    club will run as normal
  • Children need to bring a
    packed lunch
    (disposable)
  • Children not going to
    the theatre should be
    collected from school at
    11am.
  • Children will return from
    the Theatre at
    approximately 3.15pm
  • No buses will be
    available at 3.15pm so
    all children need to be
    collected. Please keep
    the bus stop area at the
    front of the school clear.

Non-Uniform Day
Thursday 21st December will be a non-uniform day for all children.

Tesco Bag Pack
**WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS **
Friends of Dunseverick have secured a slot for bag packing in Tesco, Ballymoney on Monday 18th December. We are asking for volunteers to help with the bag pack. A rota will be put on the front door. Please fill in your name at any time you would be available to help.

Inclement Weather
Weather forecasts are continuing to warn of severe weather and snowfall. We have an ‘Inclement Weather’ policy on our website which explains the procedures for closing school due to the weather (fingers crossed we won’t need to). I have sent out a text message to everyone today to make sure everyone is receiving texts. Text Messaging is our first communication method should we need to close school and I am asking that if you did not receive the text message can you email me, lsmyth682@c2kni.net with your mobile number and I can add your number to this service We will do our best to inform parents about the yellow and blue buses but please understand these services are out of our control and can only pass on information as and when we receive it. Thank you again for your continued support and ensuring the safety of the children being paramount in every decision we make.

Behaviour Award
Well done all the classes who received the behaviour reward in Assembly today. They will enjoy treats and DVD on Tuesday.

Milk
Milk for term 2 will be due by Friday 5th January. The cost for the term is £11.13. If your child no longer wants to take milk please let Dawn know before Thursday 21st December so she can cancel the order.

Christmas
We are really looking forward to our Christmas performances next week. A big thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents for helping prepare the children for both these events.

Sickness
Unfortunately, our school is being hit by a lot of illness at the moment.  We hope the children will feel much better soon.  Please be advised that children should not return to school until 48hours after the last bout of illness.  This is to let the child fully recover and prevent further spread.

Correspondence
If you haven’t already checked, a letter was sent home on Tuesday with lots of information and important dates.  Something to pin to the fridge!

Movie & Munch Night
Thank you to Friends of Dunseverick for our organising our Movie and Munch night.  The children had a great evening and enjoyed yummy hot chocolate and popcorn

Thank you to Judith, Rosemary and Claire for a delicious Christmas lunch which we all enjoyed.

Christmas Jumper Day
On Friday 15th December we are asking all children to wear a Christmas Jumper to school.  Any money raised will be donated to NSPCC.
