And breathe ………
We have reached the end of our first half term and what a busy but fantastic term it has been.  Thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents for their continued support. We are looking forward to next term and all that it will bring.

Parent Consultations
Thank you to all the parents who have attended parent consultations this week.  Remember we have an open door policy in school and if parents ever need to speak to class teachers just call in, speak to Dawn and she will inform the class teacher.

Pumpkin Carving
Thank you to all the children who entered the pumpkin carving competition.  Rosemary, Judith and Claire had the hard task of picking the winning designs.  Well done to the following children:

Half Term
Just a reminder that school will finish today at 2pm for half term break.  Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 7th November 2017.

Behaviour Reward
A massive well done to all our classes who achieved the behaviour award this week.  They have earned some time over in the park.

Class Assembly
Thank you to Primary 7 for taking assembly on Thursday morning. We hope all parents and friends enjoyed it.

It will be Mrs Scott’s P5/6 class taking assembly on Thursday 23rd November. Parents and friends of children in P5/6 will be invited to come along and enjoy the assembly.

Christmas Theatre Trip
We will be attending the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena on Wednesday 20th December to see the pantomime, Tangled.  As a school, we are pleased to be able to subsidise the cost of this trip to reduce the cost to £6. We will be sending out permission slips when we return after half term break.

School Development Day
School will be closed on Monday 6th November for staff training.  We will be focusing on World Around us topics and themes and will also be updating school website and we will be receiving training on using iPads in the classroom.

Derrykeighan Community Association are organising a shopping trip to Belfast on Saturday 25th November costing £8 per seat. Contact Joanne Nicholl (07762673681) for more details and to books seat.

Big Breakfast
Derrykeighan Community Association are holding their Autumn big breakfast on Saturday 11th November 9.45 – 11.30am.  Adults £5, Kids £3.

Parent Consultations
All parent consultation letter should now be returned.

Please remember that from Monday 23rd October to Thursday 26th school will finish for all pupils at 2pm for Parent-Teacher Consultations. There will not be any After-Schools Clubs, including 223 club, that week. The buses will collect children at 2pm and pupils should be picked up by car at this time as well.

Zara will be showing a DVD in the Assembly Hall from 2-3pm on each of these days should any parents wish to leave pupils there whilst they are having a consultation with a teacher between these times.

Pumpkin Carving
We are inviting all children to take part in a pumpkin carving competition.  Pumpkins should be carved at home and brought to school on Thursday 26th October.  The winning design in each class will receive a prize.  Children can take pumpkins home with them on Friday 27th October.

Half Term
School will finish for all pupils on Friday 27th October at 2pm for half term break.  Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 7th November 2017.

Behaviour Reward
Well done to Reception, P1, P2, Mr Bell’s P4/5 and P7 – winners of this week’s behaviour reward – one night off ALL homework on Tuesday 7th November.

Friends of Dunseverick
Remember to keep filling the smarties tubes and return to school when full.

P7 – Class Assembly
Parents, grandparents and friends of our Primary 7 children are invited to a special class assembly on Thursday 26th October at 9.30am.  This will be a celebration of the children’s work and we look forward to welcoming you all to school.  Please stay for tea/coffee afterwards.

Christmas Cards
Each child in school has designed their own Christmas card and a draft copy along with an order form is being sent home today.  Please return order forms before Friday 27th October 2017.

Castle Kidz Youth Club, Derrykeighan,
Junior youth club (primary age) will recommence on Friday 20th October 6.45-8.45 pm (please note earlier timings).  Admission is £1 and tuck shop available.

Mosside Parent & Toddler groupmeets each Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church Hall 10a.m. – 12 noon.  All pre-schoolers, parents & carers welcome so why not come along and meet new friends.  Admission £2 per family includes snack.  For further info please contact Joanne Nicholl on 07762673681.
