Wednesday Letter – 5th March 2014

Dear Parents and Friends,

School Building

In recent weeks, we have had visits from local elected representatives who wish to assist us in improving our school building facilities. At present, we are submitting information to the NEELB about this matter. Any future information will be shared as it becomes available.

World Book Day

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 6th March 2014. We would appreciate it if pupils could bring in a favourite book on this date. Pupils will also undertake activities in class linked to the day’s celebrations.

Reply Slips

Replies for the Bushmills and Woodhall School Trips should be sent to school by Friday 7th March 2014, along with the deposit if your child wishes to take up the offer of a place.

P5 and P7 Change of Swimming Venue

P5 and P7 swimming will now take place each Friday instead of Monday at The Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney, commencing Friday 14th March 2014. Our school has been awaiting a slot here and it has now become available due to another school vacating it. The format of swimming in Ballymoney allows 2 qualified instructors to teach the lesson with school groups. Pupils should still bring £1.70 per week and £1.00 for the locker which they will get back.

Hedge Planting

Our P2 and P3 pupils have been invited to go to the Giant’s Causeway on Friday 7th March 2014 to participate in a hedge planting activity. Educational Visit reply slips already cover this visit, but please inform the school if you do NOT wish your child to attend. P3 Pupils should bring warm clothing and wellies or boots to change into, as P2 pupils can wear their outdoor play clothing.

Coleraine Festival

Pupils have been allocated their times to perform at Coleraine Festival. Parents should ensure that children meet a member of our school staff at the entrance to Coleraine Town Hall ten minutes before the required category commences. For any children due to be there before 9.30am, it is not necessary to come to school beforehand or return on the day if time does not permit. Likewise, it is not necessary for children performing in the 2pm categories to return to school.
