Christmas Shows

We are looking forward to performing our Christmas shows ‘Do they Know it’s Christmas’ (P4,5,6,7)and ‘Angel Express’ (rec, P1,2,3).

Both shows will be performed on both Tuesday 18thand Wednesday 19thDecember.

‘Angel Express’ will start at 9.30am on both days.

‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ will start at 11am on both days.  Tea/Coffee and mince pies will be available on both days between the performances and there will be a collection at both shows for school funds.

Friends of Dunseverick

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help with the door collection at Tesco, Ballymoney on Saturday. I have sent a message to everyone to remind them of their allocated time slot.

Lunch Menu

For week beginning Monday 10thDecember, we will be following Week 2on the school lunch menu. 

We would like to say a massive thank you to Judith, Rosemary and Claire for providing us with a delicious Christmas Lunch on Thursday.

Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 14thDecember we are asking all children to wear a Christmas Jumper to school and bring £1 to donate to charity.  Any money raised will be donated to Save the Children.

Movie & Munch Night

Friends of Dunseverick are holding a Movie and Munch night on Thursday 13thDecemberfrom 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Still a few spaces left if anyone else would like to come along. 

Food Bank Donations

Thank you for all the generous donations for our foodbank collection.  Items can still be brought into school up until Thursday 13thDecember.  We will be presenting the hampers to the foodbank on Friday 14thDecember in Ballycastle. 

Costumes

If your child needs a costume for the school play, can they please be sent into school, clearly labelled with your child’s name as soon as possible.  We will be having a dress rehearsal on Friday 14thDecember.

Milk Money

Milk money for Term 2 will be £13.87.  This can be paid using school money. If your child would like to start taking milk, please let Dawn know before Friday 14thDecember. Likewise, if your child no longer wants to take milk, please let Dawn know as soon as possible.

Open Day – Change of Date

Due to other commitments in school we have had to change the date. Our open day will now be held on Wednesday 9thJanuary 2019 at 6.30pm with a principal’s talk at 6.45pm to explain the new online admission process. Please let prospective parents know of this date if their child is due to start school.

Sickness

Unfortunately, our school is being hit by a lot of illness at the moment.  We hope the children will feel much better soon.  Please be advised that children should not return to school until 48hours after the last bout of sickness.  This is to let the child fully recover and prevent further spread. 

Homework

There will be NO homework this week to allow the children time to learn and practise their words for the Christmas performances.

Class Assembly

Mrs Scott’s P5/6 class taking assembly on Thursday 29thNovemberat 9.30am. Parents and friends of children in P5/6 will be invited to come along and enjoy the assembly.

Christmas Theatre Trip

Just a reminder that all money for the Theatre needs to be paid on or before Friday 16thNovember.

Friends of Dunseverick

The next meeting will be held on Friday 16thNovember at 2.00pm. Everyone is most welcome.  We really need the help and support of as many parents and friends to make our fundraising efforts successful.

Open Day

This year, in light of the new admission procedure, we have decided to wait until Friday 11thJanuary to hold our open day.  Please let prospective parents know of this date if their child is due to start school.

I know it’s only November but just a ‘heads up’ that we will be celebrating Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 14thDecember. Money raised will be donated to Save the Children.

Derrykeighan Community Association are organising a shopping trip to Belfast on Saturday 24thNovember costing £8 per seat. Contact Joanne Nicholl (07762673681) for more details and to books seat.

Big Breakfast

Derrykeighan Community Association are holding their Autumn big breakfast on Saturday 17thNovember 9.45 – 11.30am.  Adults £5, Kids £3.

Primary 2 & 3 – Class Assembly
Parents, grandparents and friends of our Primary 2 & 3 children are invited to a special class assembly on Thursday 24thMay at 9.30am.  This will be a celebration of the children’s work and we look forward to welcoming you all to school.  Please stay for tea/coffee afterwards.

School Closures
School will be closed on Friday 25thMayfor School Development Planning and also on Monday 28thMay for the bank holiday.

School Council
Preparations are well underway for our Mad Hair May Day on Thursday 31stMay. Children will be asked to contribute £1 for their mad hair which we will use to purchase playground equipment.

Absences
If your child is absent from school, please remember to send absence notes on the day your child returns to school.

Queries or Concerns
I would like to remind parents, that if they should have any queries or concerns to come and see class teachers or the principal.  We endeavour to make Dunseverick Primary school a welcoming and friendly, safe place for all children, parents, visitors and staff and can only do this with the support of everyone.

Weather
We are ever hopeful that the warm, sunny weather will continue. Please remember to send a sun hat, sun cream and a bottle of water with your child to school each day.
