Pupil Assessment
Children will be completing Progress in English and Maths during the week beginning Monday 8th May. P4 and P6 will also be completing Cognitive Ability Tests. We require full attendance this week to facilitate the administration of these tests. Thank you.

Hats & Shades Day
We are taking part in Hats & Shades day to raise money for cancer fund for children. We are inviting all pupils to get ‘sunsmart’ by wearing a favourite hat and/or sunglasses in school on Monday 8th May and donating £1 to this charity. Payments can be made using school money.

P6 – AQE
Registration opened on Tuesday 2nd May for the Common Entrance Assessment for current P6 pupils. Registration will close on Friday 8th September. Application forms are available on the AQE website to download and complete.

Friends of Dunseverick
Our Summer Craft fair is being held on Saturday 27th May in Dunluce Parish Centre from 10am – 3pm. We are looking for some volunteers on the day to help out in the kitchen, admissions, tidying up etc. If you could help in anyway please contact Dawn and leave your name. Anyone who is making traybakes etc, please leave into school on Friday 26th May or bring on morning of the fair.

Summer Concert
Katy Graham, our harp and piano teacher, is holding an Evening of Music by her young pupils. This will be held in Portballintrae Village Hall on Friday 2nd June 2017 at 7.00pm. Tickets cost £5 and are available to purchase from Katy and in school. All proceeds are for Dunseverick Primary School. Please come along and support our pupils.

Cups & Trophies
Any pupil who won a cup or trophy last year should now return this to school so that we can get organised for prize day. If you are in touch with any Yr8s who won something last year please mention this to them.

School Shoes
All children should be wear black school shoes to school every day. If children are playing football at break and lunch, they can bring trainers to change in to.

SeeSaw Playgroup
Seesaw playgroup is holding a coffee morning and cake sale on Saturday 20th May, 10am – 1pm. Adults – £3, Children £2 – (this includes face painting, ice cream, biscuit decorating and games.

Meet The Teacher

On Monday 14th September 2015, at 7pm, parents are getting the opportunity to come to school and meet their child’s teacher. Parents will be given a brief overview of the school year and get an opportunity to see what actually happens in the classroom, should it be Jolly Phonics, Guided Reading, Tables, World Around Us themes, ICT and also get a first look at our new handwriting scheme which we are introducing this year. If you plan to attend this evening can you please ring Dawn in the office to confirm? Thanks.

Sponsored Walk

This year we are having a Sponsored Walk on Friday 2nd October at 6.00pm. This is instead of our Christmas fair. We are hoping to raise money to purchase a new Interactive Whiteboard for school and also to help subsidise a trip, for the whole school, to the theatre at Christmas time.

A sponsorship sheet has been sent home with children today.

The walk will take place in Portballintrae and on The Tramway. More details will follow.

Permission Slips

Permission slips that were attached to last week’s Wednesday letter should be filled in and returned to school before Friday 11th September 2015


AQE Registration (P7 Pupils)

AQE registration closes on Friday 11th September. Any parent who would like their child to sit AQE entrance tests must complete necessary forms. These can be found on the website

Exceptional Closure

Just a reminder that school will be closed on Monday 28th September for staff training.

Annual Book Fair

Our annual book fair will take place on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th October 2015 – more details will follow next week!


Grafters afterschool revision club for Primary 7 children will start on Monday 14th September from 3pm – 4pm. The last day for this club will be Monday 23rd November.
