Book Fair
Our scholastic book fair will be in school on Wednesday 4th October and Thursday 5th October.  The fair will be open for purchases on the Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8.30am – 9.30am and on the Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm – 3.15pm.  If parents are unable to attend the Book Fair, they can send money with pupils, so that they can purchase a book with their class teacher.

Behaviour Reward
Well done to Reception/Primary 1, Mr Bell’s Primary 4 & 5 and Primary 7 who achieved the class behaviour award this week in assembly.

Exceptional Closure
Just a reminder for parents that school will be closed on Friday 6th October for a Staff Development Day.  Staff will be focusing on our School Development Plan, mental maths skills and Individual Educational Plans.

Money
As school will be closed on Friday (6th October), please send all money in on Thursday 5th October.

Parent Consultations
This year, consultations will take place from Monday 23rd October until Thursday 27th October.  Letters have been sent home today with more details.

Friends of Dunseverick
Thank you to all the parents who attended the first meeting on Wednesday. Some brilliant fundraising ideas were discussed and we will be sending out an information sheet with details soon.

Breakfast Club
Please remember that if children need to be in school between 8.00am and 8.40am, they should be at breakfast club. £1.05 for toast, cereal, milk, juice, tea or water

Christmas Theatre Trip
We have booked to take the children to see Cinderella in the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena on Wednesday 20th December.  More details and payment options will be available next week.  This is a fantastic opportunity for children and we hope as many children will be able to experience a theatre visit.

Youth Club
Ballintoy and Dunseverick Youth Club restarts on Saturday 30th September at 6pm in Ballintoy Parish Hall with a film night, new members welcome.

Mount Druid Mums & Tots
The above group meet each Thursday morning in Ballintoy Parish Church hall from 10am – 12 noon.  Come along for a coffee and chat while the babies and toddlers play and have fun

Parent Consultations
Everyone should have received a consultation date and time on Monday. Can any remaining parent interview reply slips please be returned to the class teacher no later than Friday 14th October?

Please remember that from Monday 24th October to Thursday 27th school will finish for all pupils at 2pm for Parent-Teacher Consultations. There will not be any After-Schools Clubs, including 223 club, that week. The buses will collect children at 2pm and pupils should be picked up by car at this time as well.

Sharon will be showing a DVD in the Assembly Hall from 2-3pm on each of these days should any parents wish to leave pupils there whilst they are having a consultation with a teacher between these times

Book Fair
Our book fair last week was a great success. Thank you to everyone who supported it and also to Mrs McIlmoyle for coordinating the whole event. A total of £1180 was raised which means the school will receive a significant amount of commission to spend on books for our AR library and class libraries. Thank you once again to parents and friends for your support!

Staff Training
Ms Martin will be attending Child Protection Training on Tuesday 18th October. On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st, Mrs Scott and Mrs Browne will be attending a Science Course.

Harvest in School
Our Harvest Service will take place in school on Friday 28th October 2016 at 10.00am. Tickets will be on sale for this event priced at £2.50 which will include homemade apple tart and tea/coffee. Rev. Barton will also speak at this service. School will finish for half term at 12 noon on this date. The buses will collect pupils at school at 12 noon and pupils should be picked up by car at this time as well. A special themed lunch will be served to children in school on Thursday 27th October.

Library Service
The library van will be visiting school once a fortnight beginning Wednesday 9th November. Children will be able to choose books to read at school and also take home. Children will need a library card to use the library van. If your child already has their own library card, they should bring this to school on Wednesday 9th November. If they don’t have a card but would like to use the library van, application forms will be sent home for parents to complete. Children and parents are responsible for the books which they get from the library van.

Radar Trip
On Tuesday 18th October, P7 will be travelling to Belfast to visit Radar. This is a fantastic trip and we look forward to hearing all about it. More details will be sent home with P7’s.

Derrykeighan Community Association
Youth Club is back this Friday (14th) 7-9. All age 4 plus welcome. Admission is £1 with tuck shop available. We intend to split the group into junior and senior this year but everyone should attend the first night for registration. For further info please contact Joanne Nicholl on 07762673681

Derrykeighan Community Association have organised a shopping trip to Belfast on Saturday 26th November. Bus will leave Derrykeighan at 8.30 sharp or Mosside at 8.35. We will leave Belfast at 5. Morning Drop Off!
We are encouraging independence in our children and from October onwards we would like to see all children coming into school to their classrooms by themselves. Parents should contact the office if a message needs to be passed on to their child’s teacher.

Board of Governors – Parent Representative
We are pleased to announce that Mr Sam McAuley has been elected as our new parent representative on the Board of Governors. Thank you to all the parents, we had a great response.

Friends of Dunseverick
There will be a Friends of Dunseverick meeting on Tuesday 11th October at 9.10am in the school hall. Anyone else who is interested is very welcome.

Administration of Medication
Forms will be sent home with regards to the above if this applies to your child. Please complete the necessary forms and return to class teachers. Thanks.

Toberkeigh Youth Club
If you are in P4 – P7 you are invited to come to Toberkeigh Youth Club. Come along for fun, games, making crafts, baking etc. Each week there will be a short epilogue and a tuck shop. It will commence on Saturday 8th October from 6.30pm – 8.00pm.
