Thank You 
Thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents for a fantastic first half term. We are looking forward to next term and all that it will bring. 

Parent Consultations 
Thank you to all the parents who have attended and will be attending parent interviews this week. 

Harvest in School 
Our Harvest Service will take place in school on Friday 28th October at 10.00am. We look forward to celebrating Harvest with all the pupils, parents and friends. Please take a chance on Friday to look at display boards in school – they are fantastic. 

Half Term 
School will finish for all pupils on Friday 28th October at 12 noon for half term break. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 8th November 2016. 

School Development Day 
School will be closed on Monday 7th November for staff training. Staff will be planning for the progression of numeracy skills and developing monthly overviews for literacy and numeracy. 

After – Schools Clubs 
Just a reminder that our afterschool clubs will start on Tuesday 8th November – Cookery from 2-3pm for P2 – P3 and Art and Craft from 3pm – 4pm for P4 – P7.

Samba Band & Lantern Parade leaving village hall @ 7.30pm followed by fireworks over the bay (Lanterns on sale (£1) from 7pm in the Village Hall)

Parent Consultations
Everyone should have received a consultation date and time on Monday. Can any remaining parent interview reply slips please be returned to the class teacher no later than Friday 14th October?

Please remember that from Monday 24th October to Thursday 27th school will finish for all pupils at 2pm for Parent-Teacher Consultations. There will not be any After-Schools Clubs, including 223 club, that week. The buses will collect children at 2pm and pupils should be picked up by car at this time as well.

Sharon will be showing a DVD in the Assembly Hall from 2-3pm on each of these days should any parents wish to leave pupils there whilst they are having a consultation with a teacher between these times

Book Fair
Our book fair last week was a great success. Thank you to everyone who supported it and also to Mrs McIlmoyle for coordinating the whole event. A total of £1180 was raised which means the school will receive a significant amount of commission to spend on books for our AR library and class libraries. Thank you once again to parents and friends for your support!

Staff Training
Ms Martin will be attending Child Protection Training on Tuesday 18th October. On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st, Mrs Scott and Mrs Browne will be attending a Science Course.

Harvest in School
Our Harvest Service will take place in school on Friday 28th October 2016 at 10.00am. Tickets will be on sale for this event priced at £2.50 which will include homemade apple tart and tea/coffee. Rev. Barton will also speak at this service. School will finish for half term at 12 noon on this date. The buses will collect pupils at school at 12 noon and pupils should be picked up by car at this time as well. A special themed lunch will be served to children in school on Thursday 27th October.

Library Service
The library van will be visiting school once a fortnight beginning Wednesday 9th November. Children will be able to choose books to read at school and also take home. Children will need a library card to use the library van. If your child already has their own library card, they should bring this to school on Wednesday 9th November. If they don’t have a card but would like to use the library van, application forms will be sent home for parents to complete. Children and parents are responsible for the books which they get from the library van.

Radar Trip
On Tuesday 18th October, P7 will be travelling to Belfast to visit Radar. This is a fantastic trip and we look forward to hearing all about it. More details will be sent home with P7’s.

Derrykeighan Community Association
Youth Club is back this Friday (14th) 7-9. All age 4 plus welcome. Admission is £1 with tuck shop available. We intend to split the group into junior and senior this year but everyone should attend the first night for registration. For further info please contact Joanne Nicholl on 07762673681

Derrykeighan Community Association have organised a shopping trip to Belfast on Saturday 26th November. Bus will leave Derrykeighan at 8.30 sharp or Mosside at 8.35. We will leave Belfast at 5. Harvest
A very big thank you to everyone for the success of our Harvest Service.  The children all participated extremely well and collection in aids of school funds raised £200.

Poppy Appeal
A collection box has been left in school should anyone wish to bring money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Other poppy merchandise is also on sale with items costing 50p or £1

 Open Afternoon
Our open afternoon for prospective Reception and P1 pupils will take place on Friday 20th November 2015 at 1pm.  If this date does not suit, there will an option for prospective parents to make an appointment to see around the school.  Please let prospective parents know of this date if their child is due to start school.

Breakfast Club
We are pleased to inform parents that our early morning breakfast club will continue to run until 18th December 2015.  It is a great facility to be able to offer to parents and we hope that parents will continue to avail of this service. We would encourage ALL children who come into school before 8.30am to make use of the Breakfast club and take Breakfast.  This way we can ensure that numbers are kept at a level to maintain the ability to offer this club.  Breakfast club will run every morning from 8.00am – 8.30am costing £1.05 per child.

After – Schools Clubs
Choir will continue to run after half term for 2 weeks and will finish on Wednesday 11th November.
Hockey will commence on Monday 2nd November from 3pm – 4pm.  This club will run for 6 weeks and the last day of hockey will be Monday 7th December 2015.  If your child is paying on a weekly basis, please ensure that money is sent to the class teacher on a Monday morning.
Dunseverick Young Scientist Club will start on Thursday 12th November from 3pm – 4pm.  This is a fun science club for children in P4, P5, P6, and P7.  Spaces are limited to 15 and will be allocated on a first…come first serve basis and can be booked by ringing Dawn on Thursday 5th November from 8.30am.  This club will cost £1 per week or can be paid in a one off payment for the term costing £5. Please complete reply slip and return to class teacher along with payment before Tuesday 10th November.
