Dates For The Diary

Monday 13th May to Friday 17th May is Test Week.

Pupil Assessment

Children will be completing Progress in English and Maths during the week beginning Monday 13thMay. P4 and P6 will also be completing Cognitive Ability Tests.  We require full attendance this week to facilitate the administration of these tests. Thank you.

*If you know your child is going to be off school to attend events such as Balmoral Show or NW200, please can you let class teachers know on Monday morning so that tests can be facilitated accordingly*

Sports Evening

Plans and preparations are underway for our sports evening and children have already started to practice some of the races. 

Hotdogs and Homemade Pizza will be available to purchase on that evening. Please complete the order form attached and return to school on or before Friday 17thMay. 

Lunch Menu

Dinner menu for Monday 13thMay we will be following Week 4on the lunch menu.

Election

School will be closed on Thursday 23rdMay 

Cups & Trophies

Any pupil who won a cup or trophy last year should now return this to school so that we can get organised for prize day.

If you are in touch with any Yr8s who won something last year, please mention this to them.

Uniform

In summer term children are allowed to wear summer uniform; girls can wear grey shorts/blue or green gingham dresses and boys can wear grey shorts.

Here’s hoping the good weather continues.

Walk to School Week

We are participating in Walk to School Week which starts on Monday 20thMay.  Children who normally travel by bus to school will also have the opportunity to take part this year.  Please complete the permission slip to allow your child to disembark the school bus at Dunseverick Parish Church each morning.  If we do not receive a permission slip, children will stay on the bus and be dropped off at the school gate as normal.  A ‘walking bus’ will leave Dunseverick Parish Church each morning at 8.50am.  Teachers will be there to supervise any children who wish to walk to school.  

Reception/P1 – Class Assembly

Parents, grandparents and friends of our Reception/Primary 1 children are invited to a special class assembly on Thursday 6thJune at 9.30am. This will be a celebration of the children’s work and we look forward to welcoming you all to school.  Please stay for tea/coffee afterwards.

Christmas Shows

We are looking forward to performing our Christmas shows ‘Do they Know it’s Christmas’ (P4,5,6,7)and ‘Angel Express’ (rec, P1,2,3).

Both shows will be performed on both Tuesday 18thand Wednesday 19thDecember.

‘Angel Express’ will start at 9.30am on both days.

‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ will start at 11am on both days.  Tea/Coffee and mince pies will be available on both days between the performances and there will be a collection at both shows for school funds.

Friends of Dunseverick

Thank you to all the parents who helped with the door collection at Tesco, Ballymoney last Saturday. We collected £723, which is absolutely amazing.

Rec/P1/P2 Trip

On Monday 17thDecember our pupils from Reception, P1 and P2 have been invited to watch the Nativity at Seesaw playgroup in Mosside. Children will leave school at 9.30am and will be back in time for lunch. Seesaw playgroup are providing break for our children.

Movie & Munch Night

Thank you to Friends of Dunseverick for organising our movie and munch night. Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the hot chocolate, popcorn and top hats. 

Food Bank Donations

WOW, WOW, WOW! We are totally amazed at the generosity of everyone in our school. The amount and variety of food and other donations which we were able to give the foodbank was overwhelming. Rev. Stanbridge and the team of volunteers are so grateful for each and every item which they received.

Costumes

All costumes for school plays need to be in school on Monday 17thDecember. 

Milk Money

Milk money for Term 2 will be £13.87.  This can be paid using school money. If your child would like to start taking milk, please let Dawn know before Friday 14thDecember. Likewise, if your child no longer wants to take milk, please let Dawn know as soon as possible.

Last Day of Term

We will finish at 12 noon for our Christmas Holidays on Friday 21stDecember. This will be a non-uniform day – feel free to wear Christmas jumpers. Breakfast Club and Break Club are both available and both buses will run as normal at 12 noon.

Friends of Dunseverick

We would like to say a massive thank you to Judith, Rosemary and Claire for providing us with a delicious Christmas Lunch on Thursday.

Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 14thDecember we are asking all children to wear a Christmas Jumper to school and bring £1 to donate to charity.  Any money raised will be donated to Save the Children.

Movie & Munch Night

Friends of Dunseverick are holding a Movie and Munch night on Thursday 13thDecemberfrom 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Still a few spaces left if anyone else would like to come along. 

Food Bank Donations

Thank you for all the generous donations for our foodbank collection.  Items can still be brought into school up until Thursday 13thDecember.  We will be presenting the hampers to the foodbank on Friday 14thDecember in Ballycastle. 

Costumes

If your child needs a costume for the school play, can they please be sent into school, clearly labelled with your child’s name as soon as possible.  We will be having a dress rehearsal on Friday 14thDecember.

Open Day – Change of Date

Due to other commitments in school we have had to change the date. Our open day will now be held on Wednesday 9thJanuary 2019 at 6.30pm with a principal’s talk at 6.45pm to explain the new online admission process. Please let prospective parents know of this date if their child is due to start school.

Sickness

Unfortunately, our school is being hit by a lot of illness at the moment.  We hope the children will feel much better soon.  Please be advised that children should not return to school until 48hours after the last bout of sickness.  This is to let the child fully recover and prevent further spread. 

Homework

There will be NO homework this week to allow the children time to learn and practise their words for the Christmas performances.
