Christmas Concerts
Can I take this opportunity to congratulate the children on their outstanding Christmas shows; I was unable to attend but was fortunate to get a sneak preview at the dress rehearsals.  I am sure you as parents and friends of the school were as proud of the children as I was as their new Principal – Dunseverick Primary School has certainly got talent!  I would like to express my thanks to the staff for their hard work in preparing the pupils and to you for coming along to support the children.

Application Forms
Application forms are in school for those parents wishing to enrol their child for school in September 2016.  The deadline for P1 applications is next Wednesday, 13th January 2016 at 12 noon.  Parents whose children are currently in Reception or will be attending Reception in the present year are not required to complete an application form for Primary 1.

P6&7 Football Club
Football club will start this Monday 11 January (3-4pm) for P6 and P7 at a cost of £1 per week.  Places are limited; please telephone the office tomorrow after 9.30am to book.

Fun with Drums Club
We are delighted to offer Fun with Drums as an after school club this term.  This will run for 8 weeks on Wednesday afternoons starting on 13th January at a cost of £2 per week.  We have 20 spaces available for a P1-3 club which will take place between 2 – 3 pm and a further 20 spaces available for a P4-7 club which will take place between 3 – 4 pm.  The children will learn about rhythm and key music principles using djembes, shakers, boomwhackers and body percussion.  The programme helps to develop musicality, improve coordination and team work and promises to be a LOT of fun!  Fun with Drums are making a presentation to the children tomorrow morning during assembly, if your child is interested in attending please contact the office after 9.30am on Friday to book a place (places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis).

Attendance & Punctuality
Achieving 90% in anything sounds great but attending school 90% of the year means your child will miss 3 weeks and 4 days of learning.  We encourage all our pupils to strive for an attendance rate of at least 96%.  Remember – miss school . . . miss out.  Please note school starts at 9:10am we know the mornings are dark in January but we encourage you to support your child to get here on time.

Breakfast Club
Parents are reminded that Breakfast Club will continue to run this term.  The club costs £1.05 per day and is available from 8.00 am.  I encourage as many families as possible to make use of this service either on a regular or ad hoc basis.
