Early Finishing Times
P1 to P7 pupils will finish school at 2pm on Monday 10th February, Tuesday 11th February and Wednesday 12th February 2014 for Parent Interviews. School will close at 2pm on Thursday 13th February for half term. Both Yellow and Blue buses will collect pupils at 2pm on each of these dates. 223 Club will not take place during this week, although a classroom assistant will be able to supervise any children between 2 and 3pm only Monday to Wednesday if parents are attending for interview.

Primary 2 Parent Interviews will be rescheduled in the coming weeks.

Road Closure Ballinlea Road
Ulsterbus have asked me to pass on the following message:

From Monday 10th February to Thursday 13th February and again on Monday 17th February to Wednesday 19th February 2014 the Ballinlea Road will be closed to traffic from the Dry Arch to Straid Road. All school children on the above road will need to go to the Dry Arch or Ballinlea Cross. (Affecting local school services only)

‘Fun For All’ Day
All pupils will have the opportunity to participate in a ‘Fun For All’ day on Monday 10th February 2014. The sessions, which will be held in the school hall, are to promote Literacy and Numeracy in a fun way. There will be no cost to pupils, since it is funded through Extended Schools. All children should bring trainers to change into.

‘Just 4 Parents’ Course
Causeway Rural and Urban Network have organised a course in Dunseverick Primary School for parents. This will last 7 weeks in total and will start on Wednesday 12th February 2014 from 7.30 – 9pm. It is free of charge and the flyer with today’s letter provides further information.

Half Term Break
School will be closed for half term from Friday 14th February 2014 until Tuesday 18th February 2014. Pupils return to school on Wednesday 19th February 2014. 223 Club will also recommence on this date.

P5 and P7 pupils will commence swimming on Monday 24th February 2014. The cost to each pupil will be £1.70 per week, plus 50p for a locker, which is returned.

2012/13 Annual Report
The Annual Report for the 2012/13 school year was recently agreed by our Board of Governors. Anyone wishing to have a copy should contact Dawn in the office.

Concussion and Second Impact Syndrome
DENI has produced information to alert parents to the dangers of concussion and Second Impact Syndrome. The pocket booklet is available at

Piano Lessons
One of our parents, Mrs Chestnutt, has been taking pupils for piano lessons in school. 2 additional slots are now available for children aged 7 and above. Any parents who are interested in their children taking up the offer of a slot, please contact Dawn.
